What is a Summer Annual?
|
A plant that germinates in the spring, grow and develop during the summer, and mature and produce seed before first frost

What is a Winter Annual?

A plant that germinates in the fall, live through the winter, usually in a dormant state, and then mature and produce seed in late spring or early summer

What are biennial Crops?

Require two years to complete their life cycles...i.e. sugar beet, carrot, and sweet clover

Have an indefinite life span that can last many years...adapt to their growth habitat....i.e. cotton, castor, alfalfa

Embryo with single cotyledon; soft stem; in multiples of 3 flower parts; parallel leaf veins; roots spread out;

Embryo with two cotyledons; hard stem; in multiples of 4 or 5 flower parts; Roots develop from radicle

Lose their leaves every year during the fall and early winter months....Most fruit trees such as apple, pear, and citrus are deciduous

What are Hydrophytes?

PLants that are adapted to live in water or in soil saturated with water i.e. paddys and lowland rice

What are MESOPHYTES?
|
Intermediate in water use and needs; can tolerate a water saturated soil for only a bried time; sensitive to dry soil
