Tympanic thermometers
|
Place pinna back, up and out for adult. Not used for infants less than one, with patients with ear infections or after ear surgeries.

Rectal thermometers
|
Use lubricant, insert 1- 1/2 inches for adult, never force. If feel resistance withdraw immediately. Place patient in side-lying position.

Independent nursing interventions

Those interventions that must be verified with the nursing care plan or primary nurse. Can be delegated to nursing assistant. EX: turning and repositioning, deep breathing exercises, skin care.
