Steering Casualty
|
1 - Coxsawin Notify and direct the crew to investigate the casualty, and report status, cause and, if applicable, estimated time for repair
2 - Nofity the Operational Commander of the Casualty. 3 - Check for steering fluid in the starboard aft compartment and well deck, around the helm pump, and adjacent to the transom near the steering actuator. 4 - Ensure that all lines and fittings in the steering system are installed and tight. 5 - Report all findings to the coxswain |
Loss of Control Engine RPM

1 - Coxsawin Notify and direct the crew to investigate the casualty, and report status, cause and, if applicable, estimated time for repair.
2 - Crewmemebers should: a - Check throttle and shift control cables. b - Check throttle arm on engine c - Report all findings to the coxswain 3 - If required, secure engine while in gear. 4 - Coxswain report status of casualty to the operational commander. |
Loss of Fuel Pressure

1 - Coxsawin Notify and direct the crew to investigate the casualty, and report status, cause and, if applicable, estimated time for repair.
2 - Verify the fuel tankd level at the gauge on the coxswain's console. Sound the fuel tank to ascertain tank level. 3 - Crewmembers should: a - Check the aft compartments and the well deck for fuel. b - Check for the presence of fuel around the engine cover. c - Check the condition of hte secondary (racor) fuel filters. d - Check the engine fuel lines for holes or loose connections. e - Check engine fuel filter and water separator for visual contanimination as applicable. f - report all findings to the coxswain. 4 - Coxswain report status of casualty to the operational commander. |
Loss of Lube Oil Pressure

1 - Coxsawin Notify and direct the crew to investigate the casualty, and report status, cause and, if applicable, estimated time for repair.
2 - Coxswain secure the engine if this has not already occured. 3 - Crewmembers should: a - Check the outboard engine area for oil b - Verify oil level on dipstick c - Check that the spin on oil filter is tightly installed d - Check oil drain fitting for security e - report all findings to coxswain 4 - Coxswain report status of casualty to the operational commander |
Overheated Engine

1 - Coxsawin Notify and direct the crew to investigate the casualty, and report status, cause and, if applicable, estimated time for repair.
2 - Coxswain bring engine to idle and stop the engine. 3 - Crewmembers should: a - check engine cover with the back of the hand to ascertain any abnormal temperature b - Check around engine cover for evidence of steam c - If possible, tilt engine forward and check cooling water intake screen for obstructions. d - report all findings to coxswain 4 - Coxswain report status of casualty to the operational commander |
Damage to Collar
|
1 - Coxsawin Notify and direct the crew to investigate the casualty, and report status, cause and, if applicable, estimated time for repair.
2 - Crewmember should: a - Check the physical condition of the collar b - report all findings to the coxswain 3 - Coxswain report status of the casualty, disabling or restrictive, to the operational commander. Return home as directed by extent of casualty and direction of operational commander. |
No Power/Insufficient Power to Communications/Navigation Equipment

1 - Coxsawin Notify and direct the crew to investigate the casualty, and report status, cause and, if applicable, estimated time for repair.
2 - Verify alternator output on voltmeter for each engine. 3 - Check the position on power panels of all breakers and switches for the affected equipment. 4 - Crewmembers report all findings to coxswain. 5 - Coxswain report status of casualty to the operational commander. |
